I think the funniest death scene is in the film Repo Man when the punk gets killed in the liquor store and he makes a speech to Emilio Estevez as he dies,

The only difference between these movies is that Big Trouble in Little China was actually a good movie. While at first glance it seems corny, it was actually a well scripted movie with great acting and many great jokes. The guy exploding was actually meant to be funny, as was the other 75% of the movie. It really was, and still is, a classic.
